JAKARTA – PT Chandra Asri Tbk (TPIA) partners with LX International in order to initiate the construction of a bionaphtha hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) production plant with a capacity of 300,000 to 500,000 tons per year.

Erwin Ciputra, Director of Chandra Asri, announced that said HVO plant will be erected in the petrochemical complex in Cilegon, Banten. “The proximity of the location of the facility in the petrochemical complex is intended to provide easier operational synergy,” he explained in the press release quoted today (26/8).

According to Ciputra, the products derived from this bionaphtha HVO include green polymers, bio polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and bio solution styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR), which are essential in the development of environmentally friendy tyres. Furthermore, with this green tyre production under its belt, TPIA will enrich its portfolio with sustainable products.

The Memorandum of Understanding of this collaboration was signed by Erwin Ciputra and Yoon Chun Sung, CEO of LX International, in Jakarta yesterday (25/8). In addition, the products from this plant can be added in the olefin cracker plant, producing a monomer that is vital to bioplastic production. (LK/ZH)
