JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry is focused on continuing to increase the potential of small and medium industries (IKM) in various parts of Indonesia to be more productive and competitive. Of the total 10,514 IKM centers in the country, 1,592 IKM centers are located in Central Java.
“One of the IKM centers in Central Java has for decades supported the productivity of large industries, especially the automotive sector. The IKM center is located in Purbalingga, which produces exhaust products. In fact, the exhaust IKM has succeeded in becoming a regional icon, so that Purbalingga Regency is dubbed the City of Muffler," said the Director General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita in Jakarta, Tuesday (30/8).
The Director General of IKMA said that the exhaust IKM had a prospective development starting in the early 1980s. Since 2010 until now, its growth has accelerated and has been able to support the regional economy.
Reni said the value of exhaust production in Purbalingga has almost quadrupled in the last 10 years. “From IDR 37 billion in 2010 to IDR 138.7 billion in 2020. Likewise, the investment value has tripled, from IDR 1.6 billion in 2010 to IDR 5.2 billion in 2020. This is an extraordinary growth as an icon. Purbalingga industry," he said.
The Regional Government of Purbalingga Regency on its official website stated that Purbalingga exhausts have been attached to various well-known automotive products such as Mercedes Benz and Panzer made by Pindad. Not only that, the Purbalingga exhaust has also been ordered by several automotive manufacturers or Brand Holder Sole Agents such as Toyota and Honda. (LM)
