BRI and Kedai Sayur to expand agricultural digital ecosystem

01 September 2022 09:01

JAKARTA - PT Kedai Sayur Indonesia, an agribusiness enabler company under Triputra Group, and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BRI), agreed to cooperate in a program that expands the agricultural digital ecosystem by overcoming common concerns of offtake and capital availability faced by Indonesian farmers. The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding regarding the collaboration was signed by KedaiSayur’s CEO Adrian Hernanto and Agribusiness Division Head BRI Mochamad Choliq as well as Value Chain Solution Division Head Bank Rakyat Indonesia on August 29th, 2022 at the BRI Head Office.

The establishment of a digital ecosystem is expected to benefit all stakeholders in the ecosystem; which includes but is not limited to guaranteed off-taking and the provision of credit facilities and banking services to fostered farmers. Even though Indonesia is a country with a large agricultural sector, the interest of workers in the agricultural sector continues to decline as it is seen as less profitable. One of the obstacles faced by farmers apart from the availability of working capital, is the absence of guaranteed offtake at harvest time and price uncertainty.

The issues regarding working capital availability and the absence of offtake guarantee were observed by PT Kedai Sayur Indonesia and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk, which led to a collaboration in the establishment of a digital agricultural ecosystem, where Kedai Sayur will act as an off-taker who will help farmers buy their crops at a favorable price scheme for the farmer. Meanwhile, BRI will play the role of providing credit facilities and banking services.

This collaboration aims to have a positive impact on all parties, especially to help improve the sustainability and welfare of farmers.

“We believe this program will have a very good impact on our farmers. Hopefully this collaboration can provide access for farmers and can help their business grow. Additionally, we hope bank relations with farmers will be stronger with the certainty of selling prices and guaranteed offtake from us,” said Adrian Hernanto.

KedaiMart is an e-grocery platform that provides all your daily needs from fresh ingredients to household needs, with high quality choices from trusted brands in one platform. KedaiMart as the B2C channel of Kedai Sayur, will be one of the omnichannel that sells the farmers' crops from this program. KedaiSayur is now expanding not only through the B2C channel, but also through B2B. Supply from these farmers will also be distributed to various B2B channels such as restaurants and hotels. (LM)
