WTON to take on railway project in the Philippines

JAKARTA. PT Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk (WTON) is currently working on a cooperation for a railway construction project in the Philippines with a potential contract value of IDR 600 billion.

Kuntjara, President Director of Wijaya Karya Beton, further revealed that the project will be divided into three types. They are construction of elevated railway, MRT tunnel, and railroad precast bearings.

According to Kuntjara, the railway development project, to be worked on together with a Japanese contractor, JICA, has a potential contract value of IDR 500 to 600 billion. He revealed the information during a media gathering yesterday (7/9).

Furthermore, Kuntjara explained that this project is a consortium joined by two local ventures in the Philippines, with a consortium contract value of IDR 257 billion. WTON has a reputation of completing projects in Timor-Leste and Australia. “This year, the target is the Philippines. Next year, we aim for other ASEAN countries or even other regions,” Rija Judaswara, Director of WTON, stated. (AM/ZH)
