People asks gov’t to revise fuel retail price

09 September 2022 08:01

JAKARTA – The government is asked to revise the regulations regarding the distribution and retail price of fuel oil following the reduce of fuel subsidy and energy compensation in 2023 to IDR 336.7 trillion.

Harris Turino, a member of Commission VI of House of Representatives (DPR), explained that in order to have subsidised fuel distributed to the right people, the government must limit the purchase of Pertalite and diesel fuel. “The President Regulation No.191/2014 regarding Procurement, Distribution, and Retail Price of Fuel Oil has yet to be revised,” he added yesterday (8/9) in Jakarta.

According to Turino, the reduced fuel subsidy in 2023 is supposed to be accompanied with a purchase restriction of Pertalite and Solar (diesel fuel). For comparison, this year’s fuel subsidy amounts to IDR 440 trillion.

Turino asks for this plan of fuel subsidy cut-down not to hike the fuel price. “We will not agree to any more price surge. Thus, a restriction of purchase in volume should commence this year,” he concluded. (LK/ZH)
