YOGYAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga again said that crypto asset trading is part of the digital economy that is developing in Indonesia. The concept of crypto and blockchain will later have a positive impact, as well as wide and intensive influence in various sectors.
This was conveyed by Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga while attending the Block Community Conference 2022 event organized by PT Indodax Nasional Indonesia in Yogyakarta, today, Saturday (10/9).
“Crypto assets will change the old trading economy regulatory patterns from state-based authority to market and community authority. Therefore, crypto assets must be organized and institutionalized, and must be under state regulation,” explained the Vice Minister of Trade.
In Perba Number 7 of 2020, there are 229 types of crypto assets that can be traded. Then, with the issuance of Perba Number 11 of 2022, the number has increased to 383 types.
Meanwhile, the growth in transaction value and the number of crypto asset customers in Indonesia, continued the Deputy Minister, was extraordinary. In 2021, the overall value of crypto asset transactions reached IDR 859.4 trillion or grew by 1.223 percent compared to the previous year.
For the period January-July 2022, the transaction value was IDR232.45. Meanwhile, the number of registered customers until July 2022 reached 15.6 million customers with an average increase in the number of registered customers of 693 thousand subscribers per month. (LM)
