BPS: Export rose 9.1% in August 2022

JAKARTA. Indonesia Statistics (lit. Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) recorded exports of USD 27.91 billion in August 2022, 9.17% higher than July 2022’s number and 30.15% higher than August 2021’s record, which was stuck at USD 21.44 billion.

Setianto, Deputy of Statistics of Distribution of Services of BPS, revealed that the export growth seen in August 2022 was supported by both non-oil and gas as well as oil and gas exports, which shifted 8.24% and 25.59% month-to-month (mtm). Meanwhile, compared to August 2021 record, oil and gas export value increased 64.4% year-on-year (yoy), as did its export volume of 7.79%. Then, the non-oil and gas export value also soared 28.3% yoy, like its export volume of 9.38% yoy, as Setianto specified earlier today (15/9).

Setianto also mentioned that in August 2022, all sectors improved in their export activities, save the mining sector. The most apparent growth was seen in the industrial sector, which clocked up to USD 19.79 billion, followed by the mining sector of USD 5.95 billion, commodities of USD 1.72 billion, and agriculture of USD 450 million. In the meantime, the gas export also led the oil and gas export to increase 25.59% mtm. Furthermore, the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors saw 16.99% mtm improvement, driven by coffee and fruits exports. (AM/ZH)
