Singapore and Indonesia will explore the green economy sector

BADUNG - Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan and Minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore Gan Kim Yong agreed to explore potential cooperation in new sectors. The agreement was reached at a bilateral meeting between Indonesia and Singapore today, Wednesday (21/9). The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Trade, Investment, and Industry Working Group (TIIWG) and the Trade, Investment, and Industry Ministerial Meeting (TIIMM) on 19-23 September 2022 in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali.

“Our trade with Singapore is close and without problems. Singapore is Indonesia's strategic partner. For this reason, Minister Gan Kim Yong and I have agreed to explore the potential for cooperation in new sectors," explained Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan.

The Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, said that the sectors indicated that the two Ministers could explore further include trade in services and the green economy.

In addition, Minister Gan Kim Yong appreciated Indonesia's success in exporting fresh chicken to Singapore. "I appreciate Indonesia's fresh chicken exports to Singapore which support Singapore's food security," said Minister Gan Kim Yong.

During the meeting, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan also conveyed his invitation to Singaporean businessmen and entrepreneurs to physically participate in the 37th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) on 19–23 October 2022 at ICE BSD, Tangerang and virtually on 19 October–19 December 2022. (LM)
