JAKARTA – PT Pelayaran Nasional Ekalya Purnamasari Tbk (ELPI) establishes a joint venture in order to extend its business niche to the tug and barge industry. The companies involved in the establishment of PT Elpi Armada Nusantara (ENA) are said to be unaffiliated to each other.

Wawan Heri Purnomo, Corporate Secretary of ELPI, confirmed that this newly formed joint venture is intended to take on the tug and barge market share. “Tug and barge segment is highly promising for the company in the future,” he stated in the information disclosure quoted Thursday (22/9).

According to Purnomo, ENA is established well alongside the company’s business expansion plan in the next five years.

ENA’s authorised capital clocks up to IDR 160 billion, while its issued and paid-up capital of IDR 40 billion and its stock in portfolio is worth IDR 120 billion. ELPI controls 55% of the shares, followed by PT Maharaja Nusantara Energi (MNE) of 35% and PT Samahita Global Investama (SGI) of 10%.

“ENA is a part of the development of tug and burge business for coals, a segment which the company is currently missing at the moment,” Purnomo mentioned. (LK/ZH)
