FIRE deny Mitrabahtera’s deadfreight claim

23 September 2022 08:46

JAKARTA – PT Alfa Energi Investama Tbk (FIRE) rejects the claim made by PT Mitrabahtera Segara Sejati Tbk (MBSS) of outstanding deadfreight accumulated since 2017 until April 2022 and from May 2020 to November 2024. Following this refusal, MBSS then requests a Suspension of Debt Payment Obligation (lit. Penundaan Kewajiban Pembayaran Utang/PKPU) status for FIRE in the Central Jakarta Commercial Court.

“We have no outstanding debts owed to MBSS, which we have been reiterated in our response letter to MBSS’s billings,” Teguh Budi Santosa, Director of FIRE, stated in the information disclosure quoted Friday (23/9).

According to Santosa, his company received a court summons regarding this case from the Central Jakarta District Court yesterday (22/9).

Prior to this case, FIRE was indeed a customer of MBSS, acting as the ship lessor based on the coal transportation agreement signed on November 27, 2017.

According to the official website of the court, MBSS’s lawsuit was filed on September 12, 2022, under case No.239/Pdt.Sus-PKPU/2022/PN Niaga Jakarta Pusat by its attorney, Yosef Vito Herfianto, SH, MH. The petition asked the court to put FIRE in a temporary PKPU status and appoint the supervising judge in this legal process. (LK/ZH)
