Bank Mandiri and MCI asks Qoala to join their digital ecosystem expansion

JAKARTA. PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) and PT Mandiri Capital Indonesia are forming a partnership with the insurtech company Qoala to enhance financial inclusivity and expand digital ecosystem in Indonesia.

Darmawan Junaidi, President Director of BMRI, confirmed that his company recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qoala. This MoU signing was represented by the SVP Transaction Banking Retail Sales of BMRI, Thomas Wahyudi, and Co-Founder and COO of Qoala, Tommy Martin.

“It is a part of the digital transformation of Bank Mandiri that aims to extend digital ecosystem, which hopefully can offer the best quality of service and added value to society,” Junaidi mentioned in the official disclosure.

The collaboration that entails this MoU signing includes the implementation of insurance products in BMRI’s ecosystem to facilitate easier access to insurance products for its users. “This deal has become our breakthrough as an insurtech company in expanding insurance access for different classes of Indonesian society,” Martin publicly stated during the same occasion.

In addition, Martin further mentioned that the collaboration between BMRI and Qoala will complement each other’s financial planning and insurance options that have been made available for the public. Qoala itself has reportedly worked with insurance brokers and 30 renowned insurance companies in Indonesia. (KR/ZH)
