JAKARTA – On October 3, 2022, the Central Jakarta Commercial Court sent a notification letter to PT Goto Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), a marketplace owner, summoning the company to the court hearing session regarding the allegation of copyright infringement of published papers and computer programmes.
R. A. Koesoemohadiani, Corporate Secretary of GOTO, reveals that the civil action was filed by Arman Chasan. “The claim demands the company to pay a compensation worth IDR 10.9 billion for the loss of income opportunities and pay another IDR 41.9 billion or 10% of the company’s revenue in 2020 and 2021,” she mentioned in the information disclosure quoted Thursday (6/10).
According to Koesoemohadiani, said lawsuit is similar to the previous civil action mentioned in the prospectus and publicly announced on September 13, 2022. The said past claim was dismissed, and as there was no further appeal, the case is declared closed.
Reportedly, Arman Chasan, through the power of his attorney, Yogi Pajar Suprayogi, A, Md, SE, SH, filed a copyright infringement lawsuit on September 29, 2022, under case No.96/Pdt.Sus-HKI/2022/PN Niaga Jkt.Pst.
Chasan filed a lawsuit as the holder of the copyrights of the intellectual properties, comprising three papers and two computer programmes, which were initially published and launched in 2008. The papers are titled “Operational Standard for Ordering Online Taxibike (Ojol) 2008 Using Phone, SMS, Website, and Internet-based Media”; “The First Online Taxibike with Safety Riding with the Route of Bintaro, Rempoa, Sudirman, Thamrin, Jakarta Regions and Surroundings”; and “Business Method and the Origins of the First Online Taxibike in Indonesia Using Internet-based Media Since 2008”.
Then, the two computer programmes are included in “The First Online Taxibike with Safety Riding with the Route of Bintaro, Rempoa, Sudirman, Thamrin, Jakarta Regions and Surroundings”; and “Business Method and the Origins of the First Online Taxibike in Indonesia Using Internet-based Media Since 2008”.
