JAKARTA – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) revealed that the number of investors in the capital market had reached 9.76 million on September 29, 2022. Approximately 59.43% of them are under 30 years old.

In the press release of the Public Lecture in North Sumatra University (USU), quoted today (6/10), Mahendra Siregar, Head Commissioner of OJK, mentioned the number of investors in the capital market continues to increase.

The rise in investors is believed to be a result of OJK to educate the public about finance, develop special notation and monitoring board in Indonesia Stock Exchange, implement the disgorgement and disgorgement fund, as well as optimise the investor protection fund.

The number of capital market investors in North Sumatra was reportedly 30.41% higher from 343,303 single investor identifications (SID) in December 2021 to 447,712 SID. “North Sumatera even has potential to further increase the number of its capital market investors,” Siregar added.

As of now, North Sumatra’s population clocks up to 14.93 million people, 69.10% of which, or 7.51 million people, are in their productive age. (LK/ZH)
