IDX holds ring the bell for financial literacy

JAKARTA - Commemorating World Investor Week (WIW) and Financial Inclusion Month 2022, the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) held a virtual Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy on Thursday (6/10). The event was then continued with capital market education activities for female Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in collaboration with the Indonesian MSME Women's Empowerment social organization (PPUMI).

WIW is a global campaign initiated by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and aims to raise awareness of the importance of education as well as investor protection. WIW focuses on two major themes, namely 1) Investor Resilience, and 2) Sustainable Finance, and will last for a week, from 3-7 October 2022. In addition, Financial Inclusion Month will also take place throughout October 2022.

As a form of participation and support for the campaign, IDX held a virtual Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy on Thursday (6/10). This event is also hosted by 122 stock exchanges around the world.

Data from the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI) as of August 31, 2022 shows that the number of female investors is only 37.14% or as many as 3,543,166 investors from the total Indonesian capital market investors which amount to 9,540,027 single investor identification (SID). The number of investors with jobs as housewives is also only 6.34% of the total capital market investors in Indonesia.

During the Financial Inclusion Month of 2022, IDX also held various events or activities for education and capital market literacy for the public. These activities include the Capital Market School for the State, the Capital Market Investment Festival at several IDX Representative Offices, and the 2022 Capital Market Summit & Expo (CMSE). The CMSE 2022 event will be held virtually on 13-15 October 2022 via the cmse.id website. (LM)
