JAKARTA. The Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, grows optimistic that the digital economy industry in Indonesia will be able to reach USD 145 billion by 2025, and thus generating more contribution to domestic economy.
The Minister further mentioned that digital economy has continued to grow rapidly and bring in great additional values for Indonesia. She also believes that digital economy will consistently rise, even exceeding the 2021 gains of USD 70 billion. In 2025, she projects the value of digital economy in Indonesia of USD 145 billion.
According to Sri Mulyani yesterday (10/10), digital economy is not only associated with start-ups and e-commerce platforms. It also covers other well-established business entities that used to implement conventional framework, but slowly convert into digital practices.
Sri Mulyani further mentioned that digital economy growth should be in accordance with the attempt to promote sustainable economy that considers social and environmental aspects as the climate change crisis will heavily affect the economy industry. (AM/ZH)
