JAKARTA - The tech giant Google will start accepting crypto payments for cloud services early next year.

At the Google Cloud Next conference yesterday (11/10), Google said it would accept crypto payments through the integration of the Coinbase crypto exchange. The CNBC Indonesia report says Google will also use Coinbase's custodial service, Coinbase Prime.

“We want to make Web3 development faster and easier, and this partnership with Coinbase helps developers get one step closer to that goal,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, quoted by CNBC Indonesia.

For your information, Google has recently added crypto features and services, such as Ethereum wallet balances that appear when searching for addresses on Google, and BNB Chain partnering with Google Cloud for early-stage Web3 development and blockchain startups.

The news about Google accepting crypto payments was also confirmed by Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao on his personal Twitter account.

Amit Zavery, vice president, general manager, and head of platform at Google Cloud said that initially, cryptocurrency payments will only be accepted from a selected group of clients who are already active on Web3 through the Coinbase Commerce integration. (LM)
