Ministry of Industry continues to accelerate construction of KIT Batang

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry plays a role in accelerating the development of the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KIT) because it is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) as mandated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 109 of 2020. This effort is also in accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 106 of 2022 concerning the Acceleration of Investment through the Development of the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate, Central Java Province.

“KIT Batang, which was initiated by the government, will be the location for capturing a number of industrial relocations from abroad. Therefore, the construction of the KIT Batang needs to be jointly monitored to support the development of the industrial sector in the country," said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita during his working visit at KIT Batang, Central Java, Thursday (13/10).

The Minister of Industry also emphasized that his party is ready to support the development of KIT Batang equipped with educational facilities, especially vocational-based ones, such as Vocational High Schools (SMK) and Polytechnics. This effort can support the availability of competent human resources (HR) according to current industry needs

President Director of PT KITB Ngurah Wirawan also appreciated the great contribution of the government to create a very competitive industrial area so that many investors are interested in investing in KIT Batang. Currently, the construction of phase 1 covering an area of ​​450 Ha has been 100 percent completed and has been sold out to investors. There are 11 companies that have signed the agreement as tenants of KIT Batang at the phase 1 location.

The Ministry of Industry noted that in phase 1, the total incoming investment was around USD 321 million, with a target of 6,000 people working in KIT Batang. The investors came from various countries, including Korea, India, Taiwan, and the Netherlands. Its industrial sector includes manufacturing glass, ceramics, pipes, medical devices to batteries for electric vehicles (EV). 

Furthermore, Ngurah explained that it is necessary to immediately start land preparation and construction of supporting infrastructure for phase 2 which has also been awaited by 220 potential investors who have expressed their interest in land in phase 2.

"There are 17 potential companies that have sent investment offers with a total land area of ​​991 ha," he said. Regarding the phase 2 development plan, the President Director of PT KITB expects the Government's support, so that the construction can be realized immediately in accordance with the KIT Batang master plan.
