JAKARTA – PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna Tbk (HMSP), a tobacco product manufacturer, saw an 11.73% decrease in its current year’s profit despite 15% revenue growth recorded in the third quarter of 2022.

In the Financial Statement of Q3 2022 published earlier today (27/10), this company recorded sales of IDR 83.39 trillion, shifting from IDR 72.51 trillion in Q3 2021. However, the gross profit slid down from IDR 12.73 trillion to IDR 12.50 trillion due to increases in costs of sales.

The primary contributor to the sales was the domestic market. Specifically, machine-rolled kretek cigarettes (SKM) products brought in IDR 55.06 trillion of sales, while hand-rolled kretek cigarettes (SKT) turned in IDR 18.65 trillion of sales. Then, machine-rolled white cigarettes contributed IDR 7.02 trillion to total sales, while hand-rolled white cigarettes generated IDR 603.85 billion. Cigarettes with rhubarbs and frankincense brought home sales of IDR 340.12 billion, and other products turned in IDR 546.06 billion.

The profit before income tax arrived at IDR 6.39 trillion, slipping off from IDR 7.10 trillion. This small shrinkage resulted from increases in selling, general, and other expenses. (LK/ZH)
