JAKARTA. PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN has recently signed a Mandate Letter worth USD 750 million or IDR 11.7 trillion, granting facilities from 8 international and multinational banks to support the transition towards renewable energy utilisation.

The foreign banks in question include Bank of China, China Construction Bank, CIMB, DBS Bank, PT Bank Mizuho Indonesia/Mizuho Bank Ltd, OCBC, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation/Bank BTPN, and United Overseas Bank (UOB). Sinthya Roesly, Financial Director of PLN, was the one signing said green fundings Mandate Letter alongside eight leaders of those international and multinational banks during the Energy Transition Day in Nusa Dua, Bali, yesterday (1/11).

Darmawan Prasodjo, President Director of PLN, stated that PLN is vigorously working on new and renewable energy (NRE) power plants and implementing several initiatives to promote decarbonisation agenda, including halting the operation of steam power plants.

Prasodjo further said that international support, as well as cross-border collaborations, is essential in supporting PLN’s mission of leading a smooth energy transition in Indonesia. “PLN will then utilise these fundings to empower NRE-based programs,” he claimed. (AM/ZH)
