JAKARTA - The defense equipment industry in Indonesia is increasingly competitive globally by creating various innovative products. This is in line with the use of modern technological advances and supported by competent industrial human resources (HR).
"Therefore, the Ministry of Industry actively promotes a variety of defense equipment that has been produced by the domestic industry, where some of its products have been able to penetrate the export market," said Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) Taufiek Bawzier in Jakarta, Wednesday (2/11).
A total of 905 companies from 59 countries will showcase the array of weapons they produce at the Indo Defense 2022 event, with the theme "Peace, Prosperity, Strong Defense". Of the total participants, 154 of them are defense industries from Indonesia. Not only state-owned companies, national private companies also took part in this prestigious event.
The Director of the Maritime Industry, Transportation Equipment, and Defense Equipment R. Hendro Martono said that the goal of the Ministry of Industry to facilitate the Indo Defense 2022 event was also to realize Indonesia's independence in the production of the main weapon system equipment (defense equipment). "This needs to be supported by spurring the capabilities of the industry in the country so that they can take advantage of high technology while optimizing the use of local raw materials," he said.
By increasing domestic production capabilities, Indonesia's defense industry products can host in their own country, as well as become kings in ASEAN. (LM)
