JAKARTA. The Indonesian government will allocate a budget of IDR 25.18 trillion in 2023 for the subsidy of low-income housing.

Iwan Suprijanto, Director-General of Housing of Public Housing and Works (PUPR), further mentioned that said subsidy will be channelled through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility designed for 220 thousand units of houses. Then, the house ownership subsidy for another 10 thousand units will be distributed through the Public Housing Savings program (lit. Tabungan Perumahan Rakyat/Tapera).

“In order to maintain the quality of the houses, the Ministry of PUPR will continue to improve the offers and utilise the information technology as a way to monitor the quality of these subsidised houses,” Suprijanto explained, as quoted by Investor Daily.

This policy is also a part of the National Medium-Term Development Plan of 2020-2024. In accordance with this plan, the Indonesian government plans to provide 70% of the nation’s households with proper housings by 2024.

In order to provide these properly inhabitable houses, the government will join forces with several stakeholders. With this collaboration on the pipeline, the progress of the property and housing construction sector might be even more optimised. (KR/ZH)
