META to strengthen its NRE segment

14 November 2022 05:29

JAKARTA. PT Nusantara Infrastructure Tbk (META) is currently developing its new and renewable energy (NRE) business segment as a way to align itself with the Indonesian government's commitment in promoting energy transition to achieve net zero emission by 2060.

Ridwan Irawan, Director of Nusantara Infrastructure and President Director of Enegi Infranusantara, claimed that until now, the toll road business is still the biggest contributor in META's revenue. However, his company expects the NRE and clean water management sectors to continue to expand in order to boost their revenue. "Surely, it has to consider the capital expenditure budget, the timing, and the risk management of each related project," he explained further in his statement, as quoted by Kontan yesterday (13/11).

The NRE business of META is handled by its subsidiary, PT Energi Infranusantara (EI) that was established in 2012. At the end of 2021, META is listed as the controller of EI, owning 99.99% of the shares.

As of now, META has secured several NRE projects ready to be developed in the pipeline. They include hydropower, biomass-fueled, and solar power plants. In general, Irawan believes that the development of NRE power plants will continue to increase, following the roadmap in the National Electricity Supply Business Plan of 2021-2030. (AM/ZH)
