Moratelindo and Mitsui to take on telecommunication project worth IDR 2.64 trillion

JAKARTA. PT Mora Telematika Indonesia Tbk (MORA), also known as Moratelindo, has established a joint venture alongside Mitsui & Co. Ltd. to handle a telecommunication infrastructure development project worth IDR 2.64 trillion.

The collaboration between Moratelindo and Mitsui will include the process of constructing passive infrastructure of telecommunication, starting from its civil engineering aspect to the technical aspect of telecommunication.

In addition to this, both parties will also work together in expanding said passive infrastructure for telecommunication across the country. It will involve construction of ducting, telecommunication tower, data centre, and undersea optical fibre network.

As mentioned above, one of the collaboration projects is the construction of ducting and telecommunication towers in 860 sites in several major cities in Indonesia. The investment for this project is estimated to reach IDR 2.64 trillion or approximately USD 170 million.

"This investment is targeted to be channelled until 2027, and it will be advanced gradually according to the needs," Henry Rizard Rumopa, VP Corporate Secretary of Moratelindo, explained. "The fund source, other than JV, can be taken out of bank facilities," he added.

For the record, Moratelindo will control 51% of the JV, while another 49% goes to Mitsui. This partnership is expected to be the stimulus that will rouse progress in telecommunication service and industry in Indonesia. (KR/ZH)
