Tycoon Low Tuck Kwong let go Bayan shares

JAKARTA - Share market activity on Tuesday, November 15, was marked by the fantastic trading of PT Bayan Resources Tbk's shares. One of the wealthiest people in Indonesia, Low Tuck Kwong, who is also the majority shareholder of BYAN, sold 250 million shares. However, a new investor, United Overseas Bank Nominees (Private) Limited, bought these shares right away. This Singaporean company bought a total of 251 million shares of BYAN, giving them an instant 7.5% ownership stake.

The largest purchase was made by Mallaca Trust Pte. Ltd., which purchased 268 million BPII shares from PT Batavia Prosperindo Internasional Tbk (BPII). This purchase instantly further strengthens Mallaca's position as the majority shareholder with 86.5% ownership.

Another purchase was reported by Kathrin Widjaja of 21.5 million shares of PT Lancartama Sejati Tbk (TAMA) and PT Nusa Construction Enjiniring Tbk (DGIK), which made a buyback of 2.5 million shares.

On the other hand, three majority shareholders took the divestiture step. First, PT Panorama Tirta Anugerah once again sold 60 million shares of PT Panorama Sentrawisata Tbk (PANR). Then, PT Griyainsani Cakrasadaya, the parent company of PT Mitra Keluarga Karyasehat Tbk, sold 19.45 million shares of MIKA, while PT Sinar Mas Cakrawala sold 7.8 million shares of PT Sinar Mas Multiartha Tbk (SMMA).

Further, Archipelago Investment Pte Ltd released 9.7 million shares of PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (EMTK), and UOB Kay Hian (Hong Kong) again sold 2.8 million shares of PT MNC Kapital Indonesia Tbk (BCAP) as a result of foreign investor divestment. (KD)
