JAKARTA – PT Bumi Minerals Tbk (BUMI) aims to secure coal production of 80-85 million tons in 2023, higher than the projection of this year’s coal production realisation of 70-76 million tons this year.

Dileep Srivastava, Director of BUMI, confirmed that the coal production in 2023 is set to be higher than the estimated realisation of coal production in 2022. “Although the production guideline for next year has yet to be completed, we are confident that the coal production could reach 85 million tons,” he claimed, as quoted in Reuters today (30/110.

According to Srivastava, the increased coal production will boost BUMI’s revenue by up to USD 1 million. Said increase will then cover this year’s lost potential revenue of USD 1 million, which is caused by the decreased coal production due to rainy weather.

The coal production in 2022 is indeed predicted to arrive lower than the 2021 realisation of 78.8 million tons. (LK/ZH)
