JAKARTA. PT Hero Supermarket Tbk (HERO) will open a new IKEA outlet and expand Guardian’s sales channel by launching an e-commerce at the end of this year, all aiming to bump up its profitability.

The latest IKEA store will be located in Ciputra World Surabaya. This outlet will have an impressive area of 9 thousand square metres and will be added as the seventh outlet in the list of established IKEA stores managed by HERO

“We will fulfill our commitment and exceed consumers’ expectation,” Patrik Lindvall, President Director of HERO, claimed in the public expose.

Lindvall believes that HERO’s financial performance until last September had shown quite a satisfactory result, considering the challenges it had faced last year. However, it is worth mentioning that HERO still suffered from a loss of IDR 85 billion at the end of September 2022.

This year, HERO’s target mainly focuses on improving liquidity and business structure. Then, only after these objectives were secured would the company direct its focus to new outlet establishment.

Based on the data curated by idnfinancials.com, Guardian had gained control over 296 outlets until October 2022. These stores are located across several major cities in major islands of the country, including Java, Bali, Kalimantan, and Sumatra.

As of now, HERO also manages 6 IKEA stores, including the most recent one in Taman Anggrek Mall that was opened in April 2022. (KR/ZH)
