27 December 2022 09:23

JAKARTA. Bank BTPN Tbk (BTPN) and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) have channelled a syndicate loan in the form of green financing worth USD 93.75 million or IDR 1.46 trillion to PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN. The said amount is included in a facility agreement worth USD 750 million in total or IDR 11.72 trillion.

The management of Bank BTPN then revealed that the financing agreement had been signed by the creditors and PLN last week. BTPN and SMBC will act as the coordinating mandated lead arranger and bookrunner, as well as the green loan coordinator. They will grant the green facility to support PLN's initiatives in its energy transition to renewable energy.

Head of Wholesale and Commercial Banking of Bank BTPN, Nathan Christianto, claimed that the commitment in this green facility is intended for corporate users that promote sustainability, including through the renewable energy, to realise its effort to reach net zero in emission.

Prior to this, Bank BTPN also reportedly channelled green financing, in compliance with the definition made by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), of IDR 6.7 trillion at the end of September 2022. Said amount was 52% higher than IDR 4.4 trillion seen in the same period last year. (AM/ZH)
