JAKARTA - PT Maybank Indonesia Tbk (BNII) will postpone its decision to increase the deposit interest rate until after the presidential election in April 2019, which may make the customers wait and see the national condition before they decide to save their money in the bank.

Thilagavathy Nadason, Finance Director of PT Maybank Indonesia Tbk (BNII) stated that they would not decide to increase the deposit interest rate next year before the condition in Indonesia is confirmed stable. “For next year, the decision to increase the deposit interest rate will depend on the economic condition,”
said she, in Jakarta.

In the first six months of 2019, according to Nadason, they will not expect too much of an increase in third-party fund collection due to the weakening rupiah exchange rate. “We have to pray for the Rupiah,  we don’t expect much in the first six months,” she added. (LK/AR/W)
