JAKARTA - PT Fajar Surya Wisesa Tbk (FASW) got an opportunity to increase its paper export to China during the third quarter of 2018 due to the ongoing trade war between China and United States (US).
Marco Hardy, Corporate Secretary of PT Fajar Surya Wisesa Tbk (FASW) said that China is the biggest export market for their product. “For the first nine months of the year, almost 30% of our sales are achieved from export, with China as the biggest one,” said he, in Jakarta.
According to Hardy, the rising import rate was related to the import ban being imposed on China by the US. The policy affected the supply of paper in China, and the company saw the opportunity to increase its export.
In the third quarter of 2017, Fajar Paper’s sales revenue was recorded at Rp 4.91 trillion with 725,000 tons sales volume. In the same period of 2018, the sales volume of the company was recorded at 1.02 million tons. (LK/AR/W)
