JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) aims to gain third-party funds, consisting of current accounts, current savings, and deposits, in total of about Rp 852 trillion in 2019. By the end of 2018, the total third-party funds gathered by Bank Mandiri was approximately Rp 770 trillion.
Panji Irawan, Finance Director of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) stated that the number of third-party funds grew by 5.58% compared to the number from the same period in 2017. “We do not want to fight in deposit, which is expensive,” said he, in Jakarta.
In the third quarter of 2018, Bank Mandiri gained Rp 760.31 trillion of third-party funds, higher than the number from the same period in 2017 (Rp 749.58 trillion). The deposits of Rp 254.68 trillion were obtained, when the value of the current account and current savings are Rp 203.64 trillion and Rp 301.97 trillion, respectively. In the same period of 2017, the deposits of Rp 238 trillion were obtained, when the value of the current account and current savings were Rp 202.86 trillion and Rp 308.71 trillion respectively.
According to Irawan, the deposits were lower in 2018 compared to 2017 due to the low interest rate. The bank wants to be selective about its deposit customers. (LK/AR/W)
