JAKARTA - PT Emdeki Utama Tbk (MDKI) is not going to expand its market to overseas in the near future as to anticipate the trade war of China-United State. The company is currently trying to focus on domestic market to increase its sales revenues.

Hiskak Secakusuma, President Director of PT Emdeki Utama Tbk (MDKI) stated that the export sales decreased in October 2019. "Why does export go down? Last time, we produced based on production standards, it turned out the production efficiency standards to be inadequate for domestic demand, which makes exports not an incentive to us, but an obligation instead, because we have age*of production, which makes the price is not that good; therefore, we plan the production that is suited more to the domestic needs, with more suitable needs; our sales fall, the facilities we use is lower, bank credit needs are also lower, and so on; so, margins can be better," he said.

In October 2019, sales of domestic market were 15,118 tonnes and the export sales was 1,944 tonnes. By the end of 2019, export will be expected to reach 18,568 tonnes dan for import is 2,052 tonnes. (LK/W)
