14 August 2013

Integrated media conglomeration MNC Group continues negotiation with Bakrie Group's VIVA to acquire at least 90% ownership in PT Cakrawala Andalas Televisi (operator of ANTV station).

Earlier, the largest TV operator by audience share had had talks to buy PT Visi Media Asia Tbk (VIVA), the holding of Bakrie's media business that also operates TVOne and news website Vivanews.com.

Planning to use mainly internal cash for the acquisition, MNC wants to focus on television that absorbs the most advertising expenditure share, reaching 70% at the moment.

At the same time, ANTV is considered to have different program segmentation than that of the existing TV stations under MNC Group.

The media conglomeration now has 3 terrestrial TV stations namely RCTI, MNCTV and GlobalTV with total national audience share of 40%.
