JAKARTA – PT New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT 1), a joint venture company between PT IPC Terminal Petikemas and international consortium as the Operator of New Priok Container Terminal One at Tanjung Priok Port, managed to record an accumulated throughput of 1 million TEUs (Twenty Feet Equivalent Units). This achievement was made within less than 1.5 years, since its commercial operation in August 2016.
With a facility space of 32 ha, NPCT 1 could hold a capacity of 1.5 million TEUs. Since August 2016, NPCT 1 has been active for 2.7 million hours with zero accident. Director of Commercial and Business Development of IPC, Saptono R. Irianto said, “We could reach 1 million TEUs driven by our level of service, productivity and speed. We have adequate equipment that could serve any size of ship in NPCT 1.”
The New Priok or Kalibaru Port will have two more container terminals, namely NPCT 2 and NPCT 3. Besides that, IPC will also build Terminal Product 1 and 2 for gas and liquid products. Each terminal can hold up to 1.5 million TEUs.
NCPT 2 and NPCT 3 are located on the reclamation land and are waiting for consolidation process. IPC expects the new terminals could commence operation in the next two years. In addition, IPC is also building a cargo access to NPCT 1 2 3 and Product Terminal 1 2 in the eastern side. Currently, access to cargo is only available in the southern side. (LM/W)
