BI prepares 2900 money exchange service points during Ramadan

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia prepares money exchange services at 2900 exchange points throughout Indonesia, including in the 3T area (Leading, Outermost, and Remote) starting from May 13, to June 1, 2019. The service is a synergy of Bank Indonesia and banks to provide excellent service to the public during the Ramadan / Eid ul-Fitr period of 1440 H. Activities with the theme of "Rupiah for the Country: Bank Indonesia and Bankings Serving Synergy Point of the Country" are conducted by opening mobile cash activities at crowded places, banking offices and other agencies including on the homecoming route.

Deputy Governor, Rosmaya Hadi, stated that Bank Indonesia was ready to serve the needs of the community and prepare a strategy to fulfill rupiah money through prime money distribution and cash services policies. The strategy can be seen from two aspects namely internal strategy and external strategy. Internally, Bank Indonesia is committed to: 1) Optimizing the processing of money in all cash satker, 2) Maintaining the availability of cash nationally and distributing money and cash services throughout the NKRI region, 3) Optimizing the role of cash deposit and mobile cash in distributing money , 4) Strengthening effective communication related to BI's readiness to face Ramadan / Eid ul-Fitr 1440 H.

On the external side, Bank Indonesia took steps to: 1) Expand exchange points through banking cooperation in crowded areas, 2) Intensify cooperation with transportation service providers, 3) Urge banks / PJPUR to optimize money processing and maintain the availability of ATMs with quality the good one.

The demand for currency in the Ramadan / Eid-ul-Fitr period is predicted to reach Rp 217.1 trillion or grow by 13.5% (yoy) compared to the year-ago period. This increase is in anticipation of the need for long holidays and salary increases and payments for THR for ASN and private employees. The increase in outflow in this year is predicted to occur in all of the highest outflow cash units in the Jabodetabek area of ​​Rp 51.5 trillion. (LM)
