Further development of Balikpapan refinery will increase production capacity by 38%

BALIKPAPAN. PT Pertamina (Persero) estimates that the capacity of its Balikpapan refinery will increase by 38% with the Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) project.

Ignatius Tallulembang, Director of Megaproject Processing and Petrochemical at Pertamina, said that currently, the capacity of the Balikpapan refinery is 260 Million Barrels Steam Per Day (MBSPD). After the development project, he estimated that the refinery capacity would increase to 360 MBSPD.

In addition, Tallulembang estimates that the refinery's production volume will also increase. The Balikpapan refinery is expected to be able to produce 100 thousand barrels per day (KBPD), 30 KBPD diesel, 1,500 tons LPG per day (TPD), and 230 kilotons of propylene per year (KTPA).

"The increased production from the Balikpapan Refinery will certainly increase our resilience in meeting national energy needs," Tallulembang explained on Tuesday (23/7) today in writing.

For information, the development of the Balikpapan refinery reaches US$ 6.5 billion. This refinery is predicted to be able to absorb the Domestic Content of more than 30%. (KR/AR)
