BNI prepares a CKPN of Rp 15 trillion

23 January 2020 06:09

JAKARTA. In an effort to meet the regulations of PSAK 71, PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BBNI) has prepared an allowance for impairment losses (CKPN) of Rp 13 trillion-Rp 15 trillion for this year.

Finance Director of BNI, Ario Bimo stated that based on temporary calculations, due to the CKPN, BNI's capital adequacy ratio (CAR) would shrink by 200 basis points (bps) from 19.7% to 17.7%.

Because of that, and also due to low credit growth, BNI's net profit in 2019 only grew by 2.5% YoY to Rp 15.38 trillion.

In 2019, BNI recorded credit growth of 8.6% YoY to Rp 556.77 trillion. With such growth, BNI can record net interest income (NII) of Rp 36.6 trillion, growing 3.3% YoY. While BNI's NIM ratio fell by 40 basis points (bps) to 4.9%.

"NIM is also affected by the tight liquidity competition in 2019 so that the cost of funds rises," Ario said this week. This year, BNI is targeting a NIM of 4.9% -5%. While loans and deposits are projected to grow at 10% -12% YoY. (AM/AR)
