Indonesia strengthens cooperation of air transport with Australia

CANBERRA - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi Sunday (9/2) accompanied President Joko Widodo's working visit to Australia in order to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of air transportation to encourage and support tourism, trade and industry sectors.

"We are accompanying the President of the Republic of Indonesia to go to Canberra to meet Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, in order to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, one of which is in the field of air transportation," explained the Minister of Transportation in Canberra, Australia, Sunday (9/2).

During the meeting, Indonesia submitted several proposals for cooperation in the transportation sector including: further discussion on unlimited flight access and capacity that would open all cities in Australia and Indonesia, then, in order to promote transportation security and to support the program tourist destination, Indonesia asks Australia to be able to change the level of travel advice to Indonesia, from yellow (security risk alert) to green (there is no specific security risk).

Indonesia also initiated to strengthen cooperation in the enhancement and development of human resource competencies, especially vocational education and training for lecturers / instructors and students in various educational and training institutions in the field of transportation, as well as training in digitizing technology for the maritime sector.
