BI encourages public to use non-cash transaction method

 JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia encouraged the public to use more non-cash transaction methods to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Perry Warjiyo, Governor of Bank Indonesia said this was done not only to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but also to improve transactions itself.

"We, along with the financial, banking and payment systems industries continue to make efforts to conduct non-cash transactions," said Perry Warjiyo in the Live Streaming of Recent Economic Developments on the Bank Indonesia Channel Youtube.

Communities can conduct non-cash transactions using electronic money, mobile banking, internet banking that can be done from home.

For information, the payment industry is also committed to supporting this step, among others by extending the Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) validity period from May to September. In addition, Bank Indonesia also reduced the clearing transfer fee from SKNBI. (LM)
