COVID-19: Ministry of Industry to reallocate Rp 113 billion budget to support businesses

07 April 2020 13:50

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry will reallocate Rp 113.15 billion of its 2020 budget to support businesses affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, with 81% (Rp 92 billion) of the amount to be distributed to the MSME sector.

“We are concentrating this budget reallocation to support businesses, particularly MSMEs,” said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in a virtual work meeting with the House of Representatives’ Commission VI, Monday (6/4).

According to Mr Kartasasmita, the ministry’s budget reallocation is significant despite its seemingly small value because the ministry’s 3020 budget has been set at Rp 2.9 billion in accordance with the State Budget. Thus, he added that he expects full support of the plan from Commission VI.

“The budget reallocation is being done as mandated by the President. The Ministry of Industry will greatly appreciate cooperation from members of Commission VI to ensure that this programme will run smoothly,” said Mr Kartasasmita. (MS)
