JAKARTA - PT Darma Henwa Tbk (DEWA) recorded an increase in coal production amid Covid-19 conditions. During the first half of 2020, DEWA's coal delivery grew 27.96% from 7.12 million tons in the first semester of 2019 to 9.11 million tons.

"Overall, DEWA was able to maintain its June 2020 performance through increased productivity amid unpredictable weather conditions and the prolonged Covid-19 issue which made it difficult to manage equipment and employee work roster," said DEWA Corporate Secretary Mukson Arif Rosyidi.

Coal delivery of Bengalon project in East Kalimantan owned by PT Kaltim Prima Coal was recorded at 5.30 million tons, or grew 30.61% over the same period the previous year. The Bengalon coal mining project contributes the largest to the total production of DEWA. Then the coal delivery of the Asam Asam coal mine also increased by 31.42% from 2.64 million tons to 3.47 million tons. While the coal delivery of the Satui coal mine has only reached 348 thousand tons.

Along with the increase in coal delivery, DEWA's overburden removal grew 33.86% to 61.35 million bcm, compared to 45.83 million bcm in the same period last year. (LM)
