Batang Industrial Area becomes a new economic development

08 February 2021 09:53

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry continues to encourage efforts to accelerate the development of an integrated industrial area (KIT) Batang, Central Java. This development acceleration is believed to be able to spur the regional and national economy, especially for recovery due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"It is hoped that KIT Batang can become a bounce back project that offers new economic development in the Batang region in particular and Central Java in general," said Director of Industrial Zoning of the Ministry of Industry, Ignatius Warsito in Semarang, Central Java, Friday (5/2).

According to Warsito, the development of an industrial area could become a new economic center in the region, by bringing in a sizable APBD. This has been proven through the development of the IMIP industrial area in Morowali, Central Sulawesi and the IWIP industrial area in Central Halmahera, North Maluku.

Previously, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita emphasized that his party supports the development of KIT Batang, Central Java. This is to capture opportunities for potential investment in the country from a number of industrial sectors that want to relocate their factories from China. The Minister of Industry stated that his party would also encourage industrial estate managers to be able to complete their facilities, including energy supply infrastructure and logistical access. This will attract investors because of the creation of an integrated area. (LM)
