JAKARTA. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk recorded the pre-provision operating profit (PPOP) of IDR 7.84 trillion in Q1 2021.

The Financial Director of BNI, Novita Widya Anggraini, explained that the company’s performance was getting better, allowing it to secure an adequate profit to keep the business running.

The company managed to score a net profit of IDR 2.39 trillion after reserving funds with a coverage ratio of 200.5%. The set coverage ratio was higher than the value set by the end of 2020, 182.4%. Meanwhile, the pre-provision operating profit was recorded at IDR 7.84 trillion, improving from IDR 7.4 trillion during the pandemic in Q1 2020, as mentioned by Anggraini in BNI’s performance report, Monday (26/4).

Anggraini also stated that the company remains conservative in keeping the financial situation stable. By raising the coverage ratio of non-performing loans to 200.5%, the company intended to strengthen its fundamentals until the end of this year.

With a steadier base and the company’s transformation programme still running, including the digital services, Anggraini is optimistic that BNI would perform better by the end of 2021 compared to last year. (AM/ZH)
