Way Apu Dam targeted for completion in 2024

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing through the Directorate General of Water Resources continues to build dams and irrigation areas to support the creation of water and food security in various regions in Indonesia. One of them is the construction of the Way Apu Dam in Buru Regency, Maluku Province.

The dam which has a capacity of 50.05 million m3 is targeted for completion in 2024. Until now, the physical progress has reached 36.5%. The dam that dams the Way Apu River was built on an area of ​​approximately 422.08 hectares, and is a zonal type of upright core embankment with a height of 72 meters, a peak width of 12 meters, a peak length 490 meters, and the inundation area reaches 235.10 hectares.

The Way Apu Dam was built with a contract value of Rp 2.08 trillion which is divided into two work packages. Package 1 is the construction of the main dam worth Rp 1.07 trillion. Then, package 2 works in the form of construction of a spillway worth Rp1.013 trillion.

One of the main programs for infrastructure development in the Water Resources sector of the Ministry of PUPR in 2022 is to build 35 dam units with a budget allocation of Rp11.67 trillion. (LM)
