MINE secures contract from MBMA subsidiary

JAKARTA – PT Sinar Terang Mandiri Tbk (MINE) has secured two strategic contracts from PT Sulawesi Cahaya Mineral (SCM), a subsidiary of PT Merdeka Battery Materials Tbk (MBMA).
The collaboration covers mining contractor services and material hauling in Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.
Under these contracts, MINE will perform various key activities at SCM’s nickel mine, including overburden removal, excavation, and nickel ore hauling.
The project targets a production volume of 25.3 million BCM over a three-year contract period.
In addition, MINE has also been entrusted with the hauling of saprolite and gravel ore from Konawe to the Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Central Sulawesi, with a target volume of 13.5 million tonnes over three years.
MINE President Director, Ivo Wangarry, stated that the contracts further strengthen the company’s position as a mining services provider with more than two decades of experience.
“This collaboration is a strategic step to expand our portfolio and demonstrates our commitment to creating long-term value for stakeholders,” he said in a press release on Wednesday (28/5).
Although the project requires significant upfront investment and may impact short-term profitability, Ivo remains optimistic that the partnership will contribute positively to the company’s operational and financial performance in the long run.
This confidence is already reflected in MINE’s results for the first quarter of 2025. The company recorded a 12.3% year-on-year increase in revenue to IDR 572.7 billion, boosting profit for the period by 8.5% to IDR 62.4 billion.
The growth was driven by increased activity at the PT Weda Bay Nickel project and the commencement of the hauling contract with SCM, indicating positive momentum from the company’s business expansion. (DK/ZH)
