Indonesia AirAsia to acquire five aircraft this year

08 March 2019 14:01

JAKARTA - PT AirAsia Indonesia Tbk (CMPP) is planning to acquire five aircraft this year. Previously, the airline had planned to only acquire three aircraft.

According to CMPP CEO Dendy Kurniawan, the airline will acquire more aircraft because this year is a potential year for aviation.

“In 2019 we are optimistic that jet fuel prices will drop, the rupiah will strengthen, and hopefully the political year will be safe. We also pray that there won’t be any natural disaster,” said Mr Kurniawan as quoted by Kontan.co.id, Monday (4/3).

Mr Kurniawan added that the plan has been approved by AirAsia Group, and four aircraft will be delivered soon. Two of the aircraft will be based at Indonesia AirAsia’s new hub in Lombok. (MS)
