Indonesian paper exports drop 3.34% following dumping allegations

23 July 2019 15:30

JAKARTA. The Ministry of Trade has admitted that Indonesian paper exports have been declining following a number of dumping allegations in export destination countries.

The Ministry of Trade's Director of Trade Security Pradnyawati said that currently Indonesian paper products are facing challenges in the US, Pakistan, Australia, and India. "The competitive prices and quality of our paper products are considered potentially harmful to domestic paper industries [in the countries involved]," said Ms Pradnyawati in an official statement.

An anti-dumping fee imposed on Indonesian paper products by Australia is still being negotiated, despite both governments having tried to settle the dispute since 2017.

Based on data collected by IDNFinancials.com, Indonesian paper exports in the first half of the year reached US$ 1.82 billion, down 3.34% year on year from US$ 1.89 billion. (KR/MS)
