Indef: Companies must be careful in managing their finances

25 July 2019 13:41

JAKARTA. Nowadays, news has been circulating that several companies have the potential to default, including PT Delta Merlin Dunia Textile (DMDT), Duniatex Group, Jababeka and a subsidiary of the Agung Podomoro Group.

Executive Director of INDEF, Tauhid Ahmad, said that the difficulty of paying off debt could be seen from two sides. First is the problem in the internal corporate governance that makes it unable to adjust to the situation.

"Second, in terms of performance, those companies also face considerable challenges, for example, the decline in market demand, the declining premium payments and economic development that does not support business development," he said as quoted by detikFinance, Thursday (25/7).

For this reason, companies, especially manufacturers, must be careful in managing their finances. They should not make any mistakes in making financial strategies.

On the other hand, the business world today is also haunted by global economic turmoil. This can affect income performance. Not to mention global competition is getting tougher. "Therefore, it needs to be seen case by case considering that each industry or company has a different problem," he concluded. (AM/AR)
