Jakarta - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BRI) generated a total consolidated net profit of Rp 16.16 trillion during the first semester of 2019, 8.19% higher than the record from the same period of last year.

President Director of BRI, Suprajarto, said that this was mainly due to higher loan disbursements, which was recorded at Rp 888.32 trillion (11.84% higher YoY).

"Lending is dominated by the micro small and medium business (MSME) segment, of Rp 681.50 trillion or around 76.71%. The growth of MSME loan in the second quarter of 2019 is 13%," he said in a public expose at BRI Building 1, Jakarta, Wednesday (14/8).

Another factor driving profit growth is the growing fee-based income.

At the end of June 2019, it was recorded that BRI had channeled community business loans (KUR) of Rp. 50.29 trillion to more than 1.2 million debtors. He said this was equivalent to 57.8% of the breakdown target given to BRI by the government for 2019 of Rp 86.97 Trillion.

BRI also plays a role in providing assistance and training to SMEs. Until the middle of 2019, BRI supports 1.1 million MSME entrepreneurs to develop their business.

Meanwhile, BRI's total assets currently reach Rp 1,288.20 trillion (growing by 11.70%). The company is also able to collect Third Party Funds (DPK) of Rp 945.05 trillion (growing by 12.78%). (ARM/AR)
