NEW YORK. Apple began its expansion into the pay-television business with Apple TV +.

Quoting The Verge on Tuesday (20/8), Apple is ready to invest US$ 5 billion to compete with Disney, Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix. Previously, the company had provided US$ 1 billion for former Sony Pictures executives, Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg, to attract best Hollywood stars and creators.

The investment may increase to US$ 6 billion in the future.

One of the original content that has been confirmed to be aired on Apple TV+ is a skit called The Morning Show, starring top artists such as Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carrell.

For the show, Apple has poured at least hundreds of millions of dollars. Another report even mentions that Apple has prepared US$ 300 million for the production of the first two seasons of the series.

These costs are far higher than the production cost of the current most expensive TV series in history, Game of Thrones (HBO) which cost US$ 15 million per episode. (AM/AR)
