Napun Gete Dam, NTT is targeted for completion in 2020

JAKARTA - To realize food sovereignty and water security in NTT since 2015 - 2018 the Ministry of PUPR has completed two dams namely Raknamo in Kupang Regency in 2018 and Rotiklot in Belu Regency in 2019. Currently, the government is building Napun Gete Dam in Sikka Regency planned for completion in 2020.

The progress of the construction of the Napun Gete Dam has now reached 70.96%. The total value of the construction contract is Rp 884 billion with the PT Nindya Karya (Persero) as contractor. This dam has a capacity of 11.22 million m3 with a pool area of ​​99.78 hectares (Ha). The dam will be able to irrigate 300 hectares of irrigated rice fields, provide 214 liters of raw water per second, 219 m3 / s of flood control and have a potential power plant of 0.71 megawatts.

In addition to the Napun Gete Dam, there are two other dams built in NTT Province, namely Temef Dam in Timor Tengah Selatan District and Manikin in Kupang District. "The two dams are targeted to be completed by the end of 2021 and 2022, respectively. While there is one more dam to be built, currently in the process of technical discussion namely the Mbay Dam in Nagekeo District with a capacity of 34.14 million m3,"  said Head of Nusa Tenggara II Kupang River Region Agus Sosiawan.

In addition to the dam, the Ministry of PUPR through the Nusa Tenggara II Kupang River Region, also carried out the construction and rehabilitation of irrigation networks. In 2019, the government budgeted Rp 202 billion for the construction of new irrigation networks and rehabilitation in six locations along 315 Km. (LM)
